For youth basketball coaches and team parents

One game is a page.
A season is the book.

GoodSeason replaces the four things your team is currently duct-taping together: the schedule, the stats app nobody fills in, the playing-time tally on the back of a lineup card, and the group text about who's bringing snacks.

Built for one coach, twelve ten-year-olds, and the parents keeping it all upright. Not for a college program.

Free for the first season for teams who help us test it. No card, no trial clock.

Three people, three jobs

Everyone on a youth team needs something different from the same Saturday.

So there are three surfaces, not one dashboard with three tabs.

The parent · phone

Where do I need to be, and what am I on the hook for?

Home is a to-do answer, not a dashboard. If nothing needs you, it says so and you close the app. Arrival and tip-off get separate lines, the two most-confused numbers in youth sports.

The scorekeeper · phone

Record that basket without looking away from the court.

A volunteer in a loud gym, holding a phone, getting interrupted. She will mis-tap. Everything here is built around that: huge targets, unlimited undo, a book that never loses a game.

The coach · tablet

Who hasn't played enough yet?

Read-only, from six feet, mid-game. Minutes owed, next up, foul trouble. The coach never touches the book, and that is the entire point of this screen.

The hard part

Most scoring apps were built for someone sitting at a table.

Ours was built for a mom standing up, one hand on a phone, watching a ten-year-old drive baseline. That single constraint decided almost every detail.

Tap the player then the action, or the reverse

Under pressure people do it both ways. Forcing one order is how you lose a volunteer.

Missed who scored? Record it anyway

"Somebody scored two" is a valid entry. Sort the name out at halftime, in a batch.

Foul to free throws in one motion

Shooting foul lands straight on the made-or-missed tally. No screens in between.

Works with no signal, from a cold start

Every gym has bad reception. The book is saved on the phone and syncs later, and you will never see a red error mid-game.

Q2 1:48 10 FORD +2 38-34

Q3 4:12 7 BROOKS +2 53-48

Every play is a line in a ruled book. Tap any line to fix it, retype it, or void it, all season, not just today.

Your team, your colors

It shows up in your colors, not ours.

Drop in two hex codes and every screen picks them up. If a color is too light to read as text, we say so plainly and suggest a shade that passes contrast, while keeping the real color on fills, where it belongs.

GoodSeason itself stays black, white and one red on purpose. The only other color on your screen should be your team's.

Things that leave the app

Some of this belongs on paper, taped to a table.

Where we actually are

This isn't shipped yet. Here's the honest state of it.

The whole product is designed, every screen, every state, down to what happens when two parents open the same game on two phones. What's left is building it.

We'd rather tell you that than run a countdown timer over a landing page. If you want in early, the list on this page is what you would be getting into.

The ledger travels. Basketball is just first.

What we won't do

A few promises, in writing.

No leaderboards

Nothing in GoodSeason ranks children against each other, not on a board, not implicitly through sort order. A career high, never a team leader.

No verdicts on one game

Small samples get said out loud. "One-for-two on threes tonight. Not a trend either way." A ten-year-old is not a stat line.

No selling your roster

A team's data belongs to the team. No ads, no recruiting-service upsell, no exports to anyone you didn't invite.

No 40-field setup

Defaults are already right for youth basketball. Pre-game is confirmation, not configuration: sixty seconds and you're scoring.

Coaching a team next season?

We're taking a small number of teams for the first real season, free, in exchange for telling us what breaks in an actual gym.

One email when there's something to try. Nothing else, ever.
